Rusty Rooster Thank You, Paper Ephmera, Veteran's Day, and More!
Recently, the Rusty Rooster Vintage (http://www.rustyroostervintage.blogspot.com/) bestowed a beautiful Paper Gift upon me! I won a Vintage Recipe Card give away hosted on her blog, and was totally stunned when I had a happy little package in the mail! Vicki created these beautiful recipe cards using Vintage Paper Ephemera and Old Favorite Recipe cards. Please go check her out because she is awesome, with a lovely blog and to die for photos/content! The card I received has a lovely vintage Santa Claus and Christmas scene on it, and I wasn't sure how to display it in my house, so I used the envelope as a background and put it in a little Shadow Box I've had laying around!
It's so pretty, I think I might buy a package of Alligator Clips, and figure out how to make a Christmas Ornament out of it.
I love Paper Ephemera (My Definition of Ephemera is any Everyday item that was not designed to become an Heirloom), because of paper's fragility, and the unique paper items that do survive. We are no longer a society with Grandmother's storing Birthday Cards and old photos in Hope Chests, so more and more Reflections of the Past are fading away, disappearing with Time. I celebrate any attempt to repurpose something paper and old, or collecting it to be cared for with respect and love.
I don't have a lot of really Old Paper items, I do have a few Retro Cards and other items for sale in my Etsy Shop, but my treasured items are small and few. I've got a box full of old Valentines...waiting to be repurposed or incorporated into something...
But my true mission is to capture a piece of Vintage Greeting Card Goodness for every Holiday...A Birthday, Xmas, Thanksgiving, Valentines Day, Halloween, etc...Vicki from Rusty Rooster Vintage has helped me to fill my Xmas spot!
Oh! And just a little show off, here's my favorite little paper thingie! This is a little Paper/Card/Fabric Prank from way back in the day! Hankie Knickers! A Gentleman would put this in his shirt pocket so it would stick out, and his angry little lady would pull it out, only to be pranked. People had a weird sense of humor back then...
I love the little comic that came with it, and it's served up in a cute little wax "Paper Bag"!
I just wanted to say Happy Veterans Day to all our active duty Military and Veterans with a little Retro Patriotic Greeting Card from a recent Thrifting Find.
You keep me safe, and I'm super proud of you. Hat's off and Salute to you.
In Honor of everyone that has served, I've put my "Shabby Chic Home" section in my Etsy shop on Sale, 15% off (Sale is from Thursday To Sunday). Ya'll are out there protecting my freedom, some of you face unspeakably bad things, tough situations, while I sit here safe and sound at Home (Behind a computer, being a dork). Thank you very much!
Thanks for reading everyone, and take care.
