Mere Puddles, I say!

So, if everyone hasn't heard already, a pretty serious Tropical Storm ("Nicole") hit near Florida, and then some crazy Rain whooshed in and attacked the East Coast.

I hope everyone is okay, there was some serious flooding in a lot of East Coast States, and I hear there's more to come for some places.

Oddly enough, this is the second time I've noticed that the Weather Channel has failed to mention Virginia:

I have a pet peeve I've noticed for the past decade.  The Weather Channel never mentions "Virginia" when something serious happens.  Jerks.

Anyways... Rain doesn't stop 2 important things:

1.  The postman destroying my mail.
2.  Bender Oak having to go potty and get some fresh air.

Bender Oak has a weird Love/Hate relationship with the Rain.  He loves drinking fresh rainwater (and by fresh, I mean, with new mud and leaves in it).  But he really doesn't like getting his ears wet.   I know it sounds absurd, but he doesn't mind water, unless his ears or face get too wet.  I'd make him a little old lady crochet bonnet, but I don't have yarn that matches his complexion.

We needed to drop some stuff off at the post office, so I took him for a quick walk before the Rain got super crazy.

We got to see a couple of cool things on our walk,

But then it started to get a little too wet outside.

BTW, this was my lovely view heading home:

We stayed inside, but then I decided to go out after watching the news and seeing all this terrible flooding in the next city over...

Well, it's kinda hard to get around my neighborhood and take pictures.  But check it out:

Not too bad...Then again, in the really scary flooded areas, I needed to pay attention to what was happening on the road, rather than taking pictures of the road!

All this rain has helped me continue my new fascination with smaller yarns and threads.  I've started to work on a little Victorian era "Mitten Milk Money Purse", but with a twist.  Instead of fancy, sophisticated pure white cotton, I'm using the leftover bits from my Noro Sekku yarn.

It's gonna be pretty cool, and I think I might make another one as a gift for someone I know.  Might need another ball of that Noro, even though I don't like working with it.  Which I'd like to retract right now... I've found that working with it like you would a normal lace project is a pain, as lace requires yo to use a larger hook or needle to obtain the lace effect.  I've found the thinner yarn needs something to grab onto.  However, if you use a lace weight crochet hook, it behaves much like a normal crochet thread.

Well, the Rain makes me sleepy, and I'll be heading off to bed soon, once I try and coax Bender outside to go potty.

If the rain is still bad tomorrow, I'll spend some time working on some really neat pictures of my latest projects, and some really cool stuff I got from the Thrift Shop!
