Live On the Scene - Vintage Thingie Thursday, Identify this Thing!

This is Omi and Bender Oak, Live on the Scene at my First Thingie Thursday, with an Exclusive, Anonymous Vintage Thing!

I've done my research: I've typed up Reports, I've stapled Reports!

And yet, I am unable to determine what this Vintage Thingie is! So, I'm asking for your Help!

Here is my Vintage Thingie for Thursday!

Here's some "Live Footage" of this Peculiar Thingie, shot in the Wilderness of my Shabby Office:

As you can see, this is a very curious find.  I'm not sure why exactly I got it.  It looks neat, but I think it's because the script for the name is really neat and antique looking, and that little red knob on the top is super cool.  Now if I could only figure out what it is, and how I can use it.

I've already tried Google, but when you search for "Old 'White brand' black thing with Red Knob on top", you get some, ahem, some, "unusual" results.

So, I ask all ya'll, if anyone would like to help me out and let me know what this is, leave me a comment, or send a message!  I would totally appreciate it!

I'd like to thank ColoradoLady for her great Vintage Thingie Thursday Blog Party , and being able to participate in it!

What you have is a buttonhole attachment for an old White sewing machine. You can see it here at www.themulewagon.com under sewing notions.

I wish I knew but I am clueless but eager to see if someone else knows :)

I do believe the ladies that left a comment answered you question. That what it appears to be. Check White's button hole items, and see what you find.

Oh my goodness!!! Thanks so much guys! I first thought it was some sort of elaborate cutter forsome sort of office use, then I thought it had something to do with sewing, but since I haven't picked up sewing yet, I wasn't familiar. Yay! Now I'm gonna go do some more research. Thanks again all!

Yep an old buttonholer. I had a similar one for my old Singer sewing machine.

There are cams that go inside the buttonholer. Each cam is used to make a different size of buttonholes.

I concur. Now you just need to find the machine it fits onto! Nice typewriter there too. :)
