Thrift Shop Finds
My boyfriend and I went to the Thrift Shop today after running some errands, as he "just had a feeling" that something awesome was there.
He found a Dresser for $0.99 (99 cents)!!! Check it out here. Coupled with some neat handles he found (also at the Thrift Shop), and some paint, overall, he got a dresser for around $8.00 Pretty cool. He usually posts some of the really cool things we find, and I think I'm gonna add an installment to this blog called "What I found at the Thrift Shop"...
Usually, we both find something neato, and I found some pretty cool stuff as well... However, my "Finds" were not as large as a Dresser. Nope, not even close. You could put them in a dresser, and still have room for all your clothes.
Treasure #1: Lesney "Matchbox" series No. 34 Volkswagen Camper. - Extremely beat up, and I know I got ripped off on it, but I thought it had a lot of charm to it. It's in extremely Poor condition, but there was a certain cuteness to it, with it's busted out front Splitty Window, and missing door (not to mention missing paint), that reminded me of an actual size Bus if you were to find one from the same year today at the Junker's and tried to fix it up. Lot's of work, but worth all the love you put into it.
I made a little joke to the BF that it would be my personal "Cheaper than and more Amusing than yours" VW Restoration....
Treasure #2: 1969 A. Freed Novelty Inc. Crooked Deck Playing Cards. 54 Cards, Box Worn, but intact.
I just thought these were really neato. Some of the language in them is written like you're reading one of those Johnson Company Catalogs or the back pages of a MAD Magazine.
Treasure #3. The Mystery - Antique Miniature Brass Mantel Clock. I originally picked this up because it had been stuffed inside a small measuring glass I wanted. I put the glass back, but was just amazed at how small this was, and that it looked so weird. I can't find any info on it, but maybe someone out there can tell me about it? All I know, it's weird, it's small, heavy, Brass, and made in Hong Kong.
That's all for now, I'm gonna go see if I can research this clock and find out more info on it. There's more cool, stuff, but I'll span that out over time. Plus, editing and posting pictures is a pain...so much time... Yawn.
