Donations Tab, Donations Contests & Comments Incentives, oh, and Future Blog plans!!!
Many sites start off with a Donations option, or don't post one and fade away into the darkness never to be seen again.
I've decided to start fund raising to help support two things:
1. It will help keep posting regular and active on this site. It's hard to maintain a website (posting decent photos and engaging, coherent content), so any help to make this site more popular, is much appreciated. For example, for $3.00, you can buy Bender a new Stuffed Animal (Milkbone brand Sheepie) or a Rawhide, which will amuse him for a couple of hours instead of sticking his cold nose in my armpit while I'm at the computer typing away at the blog. For $6.00, I can buy a 3rd party tripod (to replace the one Bender sat on), or buy some undyed yarn and provide a Yarn Dyeing tutorial to you!
2. I find that when I have a goal, or a strong desire to share and create, the quality of and quantity of posts on this site increase. My long term goal is to move Bender Oak and I down to Black Mountain, and open up the Bender Oak Cannon Studio, along with the The Original CheapGeek Soap Co. Though this is a far off dream, I've got to put it out there, so I can at least say I tried... I would love to move down there, and so would Bender. Bender loves it down there, and it's just different down there...
Okay, enough with the serious part. On with the clever musings...
To get you guys going on the Donations, Comments, and Regular Activity on this Blog, I've decided to do the following:
1. Post Every Other Day for at least 60 days. This is about the same time that you truly see the results from exercising or a Diet, so I bet it's the same with Blogging. The post may not be as long and rambling, but at least you know this site is legit, and I'm actively trying to draw interest in the site.
2. Comments Incentives & Donations Incentives! - I've noticed a few of the sites I really like to go to do this, and have a lot of success with it, so I'll be trying this out and seeing how I do. Comments are open to anyone curious about the site, questions about my Crafting Hobbies, Vinrtage items, Fans of me or Bender, or even random (yet appropriate) Questions. The Donation link is on the right of the page, but here it is as well:
For the months of Aug-Sept: Comments Incentives Contest! I'm gonna start small since I know I only have a few readers, and then work my way up. From Aug. 15th to Sept. 15th, if I get Five or More non-Anonymous Comments from New Readers, All commenters will be put in a random number generator for a prize. The prize will be a mention on this blog, and a Super Secret Non-Lame Random Vintage Item Prize from my Leftovers4Dinner Store (Valued at $5-$10) . It could be any one of the following items, but most likely something much better:
For all Donations in the next Month, all Donations will be entered into a drawing for the following prize:
Prize Set includes one skein of Plymouth Outback Wool (Colorway 995, 100% Virgin Wool), New Sample Size Eucalan No Rinse Delicate Wash (Lavender), Collins Brand Wrist Flower Pin Cushion Bracelet, and One Random Piggy Soap! I figure these are a couple of bright, shiny things to start off the School Year or a New, First Time Contest. Contest closes at the end of September for this one. Your feedback helps determine the next donation and how it works.
Thanks for reading!

Much love from east Tennessee.
I'm currently working to get all my pictures for my books and patterns together so I can post them on Ravelry! I've got quite a few crochet books, but only a couple of Amigurumi-specific patterns/books. Once I get all of them organized, I'll see what I have, and if you'd like, you can be the first person I message about them! I know I have at least two decent Amigurumi booklets and one Creepy Cute Crochet....
